In today’s post, I will be sharing my thoughts on the Benton Deep Green Tea Trial Kit that was kindly sent to me by Chicsta for an honest review. I’ll first share some general information about each product in the kit and then talk about how they were for my combination/ acne-prone skin.
The cleanser would sting my pimples, and the areas around my nose where I had been using a tissue due to a cold also stung quite a bit when using this cleanser. I also felt like my skin was tight and almost rubbery feeling as if all the natural oils and hydration had been stripped from my skin. Benton have stated on their website that this foam cleanser is supposed to have a higher pH of around 8 to deep clean the pores for anyone who has oily skin, but although I do get congested pores, my skin is generally quite dehydrated so this deep cleaning cleanser while being good for clearing out the pores ends up causing more harm than good by further dehydrating my skin. It just goes to show that trying a product yourself is the best way to know if you like it or not, but I would still steer on the side of caution if you have dehydrated skin.
Benton Deep Green Tea Toner:
I like that I can layer it a few times without it feeling sticky on my skin. It’s quite a nice toner that I can see working well for me in the summer to help regulate sebum production while feeling comfortable on the skin.
Benton Deep Green Tea Serum:
When I apply just a small amount, I find that it spreads easily and sinks in well. The serum is a touch more hydrating than the toner and layers well with it. I was only able to use this serum 4 times so I don’t know what the effects would be after using it regularly but for now it doesn’t feel like a must-have for me.
Benton Deep Green Tea Lotion:
This lotion is lightly moisturising without feeling heavy. It would probably be really great to use in the hot summer months, but in the winter my combination dehydrated skin needs a bit more nourishment.
Out of all 4 products, I enjoyed the Benton Deep Green Tea Toner the most and wouldn’t mind using it again in the summer. The Benton Deep Green Tea Serum and Benton Deep Green Tea Lotion were not bad but nothing to write home about, however, I can’t make a fair judgement based on their long term effects as I was only able to use them a handful of times. The Benton Deep Green Tea Cleansing Foam was my least liked from this kit; usually, I prefer foam cleansers but with a lower pH and sometimes don’t mind a slight higher pH when my skin is feeling particularly congested, but I’ve used other foam cleansers with the same pH that don’t feel as harsh and stripping as this and don’t smell funky like this one either.
